Bring your vehicle and DMV renewal notice, if available. If using a coupon, present it before your inspection begins.
Leave time for the test.
Last vehicle: 5:30 pm Monday–Saturday and 4:30 pm Sunday. Visit time depends on your vehicle and the line ahead of you.
Check-engine light or new battery?
An illuminated check-engine light needs attention before testing. A recently disconnected or replaced battery may leave readiness monitors incomplete.

Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome during shop hours. You can also book online through our Tekmetric scheduler.
What should I bring?
Bring your vehicle and your DMV renewal notice if you have it. If you do not have the notice, call us with any questions before your visit.
How long does a smog check take?
Most inspections take about 15–20 minutes once the test begins. Vehicle type and the number of customers ahead of you can affect your total visit time.
What if my vehicle does not pass?
We explain the inspection results. As a test-only station, we cannot diagnose or repair your vehicle. See the retest terms above or call us for details.
Does the price include the certificate?
Yes. The totals shown on this page include the $8.25 certificate fee.
My DMV notice says STAR. What should I do?
Smog It Up is a STAR certified test-only station. Bring your DMV notice so we can review the inspection your vehicle needs. You can check our current STAR status with California BAR.
